1. About BetterDivorce
BetterDivorce is not a law firm and is not an SRA-regulated legal practice.
BetterDivorce was founded by Gemma Reading, a qualified solicitor. Gemma Reading acts as the founder and operator of BetterDivorce and does not act as your solicitor when providing the BetterDivorce services.
No solicitor-client relationship is created between you and Gemma Reading, or between you and BetterDivorce, solely through your use of the BetterDivorce website, Client Hub, tools, chatbot, consultations or other services.
BetterDivorce is designed to provide information, guidance, practical tools and support to help you understand and organise aspects of the divorce and separation process. It is not a substitute for independent legal advice from a practising solicitor or other appropriately qualified professional.
2. The BetterDivorce Services
BetterDivorce may provide access to a range of services and resources, which may include:
information and educational content about divorce and separation;
practical tools, templates and checklists;
BetterDivorce blueprints and guided processes;
access to a Client Hub or Members Area;
chatbot and other technology-assisted tools;
consultations or other support services;
referrals or introductions to independent professionals; and
other services or resources made available through the website from time to time.
The services available to you will depend on the product or package you purchase or otherwise access.
BetterDivorce may update, modify or discontinue particular features or services from time to time.
3. BetterDivorce Blueprints and AI Tools
Some BetterDivorce services may use technology, including artificial intelligence, automated processes, decision trees, questionnaires or other technology-assisted tools.
These tools are intended to help you organise information, understand issues and identify questions or potential next steps.
They do not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
Any information or output generated by an AI or automated tool may contain errors, omissions or inaccuracies. You remain responsible for considering whether information provided through these tools is appropriate to your circumstances.
4. Independent Professional Referrals
BetterDivorce may introduce or refer you to independent professionals, including solicitors, mediators, financial advisers, therapists, counsellors or other specialists.
Any professional you are referred to is independent of BetterDivorce unless expressly stated otherwise.
If you choose to instruct or engage an independent professional, the relationship will be between you and that professional and will be governed by their own terms and conditions.
BetterDivorce does not accept responsibility for the advice, services, conduct or omissions of any independent professional.
5. Information and Guidance
Information provided through BetterDivorce is intended for general informational and educational purposes.
Your circumstances are unique and the law and appropriate course of action may depend on the particular facts of your situation.
You should obtain independent legal advice where you require advice about your individual legal rights, obligations or circumstances.
BetterDivorce does not guarantee that information provided will be complete, current or applicable to your particular circumstances.
6. Your Account and Client Hub
Where BetterDivorce provides access to a Client Hub or Members Area, you are responsible for keeping your account details and login credentials secure.
You must provide accurate information and keep information provided to BetterDivorce reasonably up to date.
You must not allow another person to use your account or access areas of the service intended solely for you.
BetterDivorce may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect the security or integrity of the service.
The Client Hub may be accessible through a web browser and, where supported, through third-party applications or mobile apps.
Certain actions or information may synchronise between the website, Client Hub, mobile applications and associated systems.
7. Information You Provide
You are responsible for ensuring that information you provide to BetterDivorce is accurate, complete and not misleading.
Where a service relies upon information you provide, BetterDivorce cannot be responsible for consequences arising from inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information supplied by you.
You should not provide information that you do not have the right to disclose.
8. Confidentiality and Legal Privilege
BetterDivorce will handle personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
However, communications with BetterDivorce are not automatically protected by legal professional privilege.
Because BetterDivorce is not acting as your solicitor, you should not assume that information you provide to BetterDivorce will have the same legal protection as information provided confidentially to your own solicitor for the purpose of obtaining legal advice.
You should consider carefully what information you need to provide when using the services.
9. Fees and Payment
The price for each BetterDivorce product or service will be displayed at the relevant point of purchase.
Unless otherwise stated, prices are inclusive of any applicable VAT.
Payment must be made using the payment method made available to you at the time of purchase.
BetterDivorce reserves the right to change its prices for future purchases. Any price change will not affect an order already placed unless otherwise agreed or required by law.
10. Bookings and Consultations
Where you purchase a consultation or other appointment-based service, the booking will be subject to the availability displayed at the time of booking.
You are responsible for attending at the agreed time and providing any information reasonably required in advance.
Where consultations take place by video call or another third-party platform, you are responsible for having appropriate access to that platform and a suitable internet connection.
11. Cancellation and Refunds

The cancellation and refund provisions applicable to each product or service will be clearly communicated before purchase and will comply with applicable consumer law.
Where a statutory cancellation right applies, nothing in these Terms is intended to limit or exclude that right.
Where you ask BetterDivorce to begin providing a service during any applicable cancellation period, you may be asked to expressly acknowledge the consequences of requesting that the service begins immediately.
12. Availability
BetterDivorce aims to make its services available reliably but does not guarantee that the website, Client Hub, tools or other services will always be available or uninterrupted.
Services may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical issues or circumstances outside BetterDivorce's reasonable control.
13. Third-Party Services
BetterDivorce may use or integrate with third-party services, platforms and technology providers.
These may include website, payment, booking, video-conferencing, hosting, analytics, communication, artificial intelligence and other technology providers.
Your use of third-party services may also be subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies.
BetterDivorce is not responsible for the availability, security, performance or content of third-party services except to the extent required by law.
14. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the BetterDivorce website, branding, content, materials, tools, templates, blueprints and other BetterDivorce resources belong to BetterDivorce or its licensors unless otherwise stated.
You may use resources made available to you for your own personal, non-commercial purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
You must not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, licence, publish, modify or commercially exploit BetterDivorce materials without prior written permission.
15. Your Responsibilities
You agree to use BetterDivorce lawfully and responsibly.
You must not:
use the services for an unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, Client Hub or other systems;
reproduce or commercially exploit BetterDivorce materials without permission;
interfere with the operation or security of the services; or
use the services in a way that could damage BetterDivorce or other users.
16. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to that, BetterDivorce will not be responsible for losses arising from your reliance on information, guidance or automated outputs where those losses could reasonably have been avoided by obtaining appropriate independent professional advice.
BetterDivorce will not be responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control or by third-party services.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

We will consider complaints fairly and aim to respond within a reasonable period.
Complaints about an independent professional should normally be addressed directly to that professional in accordance with their complaints procedure.
18. Changes to These Terms
BetterDivorce may update these Terms from time to time.
Where changes are material, BetterDivorce will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
The version of the Terms applicable to your purchase will normally be the version in force at the time you placed your order, unless a change is required by law or relates to an ongoing service.
19. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the law of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
